Are you a researcher in complex systems with a passion for interdisciplinary collaboration and
public engagement? Join us in Siena, Italy, during the Conference on Complex Systems
2025, for an exciting opportunity to contribute to a public dissemination event organized by the
Science Outreach Chairs in collaboration with the yrCCS (Young Researchers of the
Complex Systems Society)
.
This event should be a celebration of science, designed to bring complex systems research to
life for a broader audience. With the support of La Scienza Coatta, a collective of Italian science
communicators, we will host a dynamic, interactive stage show built around four major fields of
application of complex systems science:

● Economics and Finance
● Biology and Ecology
● Neuroscience
● Social Phenomena

Whether you’re a seasoned communicator or new to public engagement, we welcome your
unique perspective and expertise. To express your interest in participating, fill in the form:

WHAT is the event about 

The event will be a unique blend of science and entertainment:
● Scientific Quiz: Engaging quiz rounds that challenge the audience while conveying
fascinating insights into complex systems.
● On-Stage Explanations: Each quiz question will be followed by a detailed, accessible
explanation by a member of the working group that developed it.
● Comedy and Crowd work: Experienced science communicators will keep the energy
high and the learning fun by telling jokes and engaging the audience.

your role as a participant

As a participant, you’ll join one of the four themed working groups to:
● Develop creative, thought-provoking quiz questions that reflect the latest research in
your area of expertise.
● Craft clear and compelling explanations for each question, designed to intrigue and
educate the public.
● Collaborate with your peers to finalize the content, ensuring it’s both scientifically
accurate and engaging.
On the day of the quiz night, hosted by the stand-up scientist, Paolo Barucca, one Italian-
speaking member from each group will step into the spotlight to deliver the explanations directly
to the local audience, making complex ideas accessible for everyone.
